The Scapicchio Trophy

The Scapicchio Trophy is an annual competition dedicated to the art of traditional straight razor shaving.

It is not just a contest — it is a stage where craftsmanship, control, and ritual come together under pressure. A moment where barbers demonstrate not only skill, but a deep understanding of the craft.

What does it involve?

Participants perform a live shaving demonstration, evaluated by Scapicchio Academy Master Barbers.

Each competitor has 30 minutes to complete a full shave, working with precision, structure, and respect for the protocol.

Competition Rules

• Bring your own model

• Minimum 2 days of beard growth

• Use of any straight razor is allowed (including shavette)

Judging Criteria

Each participant is evaluated on the following five pillars:

1. Presence & Ritual

How you present yourself on stage — posture, calmness, control, and respect for the client and the craft.

2. Preparation & Structure

The build-up of the service — logical flow, correct use of towels, lather, and adherence to protocol.

3. Technical Execution

Your razor work — angles, skin tension, precision, and consistency in movement.

4. Final Result

The outcome — smoothness, uniformity, clean contours, and absence of irritation.

5. Control & Mastery Under Pressure

Your ability to remain focused, calm, and consistent under time pressure and public attention.

This is not about speed — it is about mastery under pressure.
